A morte do Filho de Deus tem tão grande valor e mérito porque Aquele que se submeteu a ela não é apenas o homem perfeito e verdadeiro, mas é também o filho unigênito de Deus, da mesma essência eterna e infinita com o Pai e o Espírito Santo. O nosso Salvador tinha que ter tais qualificações. Além disso, essa morte tem tão grande valor e mérito porque foi acompanhada da cons- ciência da ira e da maldição de Deus que, pelos nossos pecados, somos merecedores.
