## **Pergunta 112. O que se exige no nono mandamento?**

Resposta. Que eu não devo levantar falso testemunho contra ninguém, nem distorcer as palavras de ninguém, não fazer fofoca nem difamar, não condenar nem me ajuntar com ninguém para condenar a outrem precipitadamente e sem o ter ouvido.1 Antes devo repudiar toda mentira e engano, obras próprias do diabo, para não trazer sobre mim a pesada ira de Deus.2 No tribunal ou em qualquer outro lugar eu devo amar à verdade,3 dizê-la e confessá-la com honestidade e fazer tudo o que puder para defender e promover a honra e a reputação do meu próximo.4\
