## **A eleição divina**

Cremos que quando toda a descendência de Adão se precipitou na perdição e na ruína pela transgressão do primeiro homem,1 Deus mostrou-se como realmente é: misericordioso e justo. Misericordioso por socorrer e salvar desta perdição aos que, em Seu conselho eterno e imutável2 Ele elegeu3 por pura bondade em Jesus Cristo nosso Senhor,4 sem levar em consideração nenhuma das obras deles.5 Justo por deixar os outros na queda e na perdição nas quais eles mesmos se precipitaram.\
