## **A diferença entre os livros canônicos e os livros apócrifos.**

Distinguimos esses livros sagrados dos apócrifos, que são os seguintes: III e IV Esdras, Tobias, Judite, Sabedoria, Eclesiástico, Baruc, os acréscimos aos livro de Ester e Daniel (o cântico de Azarias na fornalha, o cântico dos três jovens na fornalha, a estória de Suzana, Bel e o Dragão), a oração de Manassés e I e II Macabeus.\

A igreja pode ler e tirar deles instrução até onde concordarem com os livros canônicos. Mas não têm nenhum poder nem autoridade que possam confirmar pelo seu testemunho qualquer artigo da fé ou da religião cristã; muitos menos podem diminuir a autoridade dos livros sagrados. “Se alguém vem ter convosco e não traz esta doutrina, não o recebais em casa, nem lhe deis as boas-vindas” (2Jo 1.10).\
